Tell Me How to Be
It’s been awhile since I have read a book that completely immersed me and Tell Me How to Be by Neel Patel sucked me in and refused to let me go. I have had this one on my list for awhile, but my friend Daina @dai2daireader hosted a buddy read for her book club @unburdenyourshelvesbookclub. Buddy reads are the perfect motivation to check some books off your #tbr. The discussion was fabulous and helped me dissect my complex feelings for this book. General consensus was that eve

What I Read in December
Now that I look at it, December was a pretty stacked reading month for me. I had some five stars and some duds. Some heavy historical fiction, some lighthearted literary fiction, some devilishly good dark humor and even some *gasp* romance! Check out my reviews below and add these to your list. Now is Not the Time to Panic Thank you to Libro.FM for the #gifted ALC. #partner Unfortunately, this book kept me bored and left me unfulfilled. I enjoyed Nothing to See Here for its q

Things I Learned from Falling
I am a huge lover of memoirs, and it has been awhile since I have added one to my #tbr. I have been trying to make a dent in the unread books on my bookshelf, so I recently plucked Things I Learned from Falling by Claire Nelson off my shelves. Nelson is a powerhouse. She survived three nights alone in a desolate area of Joshua Tree Park, having fractured her pelvis, unable to move, and with no cell phone reception to boot. I devoured this memoir and loved the underlying theme

This Time Tomorrow
I recently visited one of my favorite local independent bookstores, Valley Bookseller in Stillwater, MN. I love visiting when I am in the area, and I am always drawn to the 25% off bestseller shelf where I found this beauty. I also picked up some books for the kiddos and there happened to be a Where's Waldo event going on where local businesses hid a Waldo in their shops and if you find 20 of them, you are entered to win prizes. How fun! All the more reason to #shoplocal and

The Scent Keeper
I remember seeing The Scent Keeper by Erica Bauermeister floating around #bookstagram a year or so ago. The cover is beautiful, the premise intrigued me, but for whatever reason, I set it to the side on my #tbr. That is until this weekend. What a wonderful choice of book to get lost in over a weekend at home with no plans. I found myself transported to the ocean coast and remote island where Emmaline lived with her father. I swear I could smell all of the scents she described

The Four Winds
Kristin Hannah does it again. She introduces these characters that I cannot help but fall in love with, then when I am least expecting it, she shatters my heart. Why do I do this to myself?! The easy solution is: don't read these books. But let me tell you why I do. Because they make me FEEL. They remind me what is important in life. You cannot have happiness without some heartbreak and somehow she is able to convey this in every book I have read of hers. The Four Winds is K

Book Thrifting 101
One of my favorite things to do is find a good deal. I love everything about it. The excitement of finding not only what you were searching for, but also at an incredible price. I am one of those people where if you compliment me on something, I will almost always respond with, "Thanks, I got it at XYZ on sale." I wear my sale finds like a badge of honor and proudly shine it for display. I have my own mini library forming in my home, but many of the books I own I paid pennies
